Allow me to share something with you. I don’t know how many times I’ve said out loud, to myself and to others that I’m going to wait on the Lord. And then find myself sitting in a corner a nervous wreck waiting for some doctor’s report, or an answer from some appropriate source. Am I the only one who does this? I mean, seriously, we will climb out of our beds, stand in line for hours on a day called, black Friday to get items that most of us aren’t using by the end of the year. We will sit in line for hours waiting to get a parking spot to our favorite sporting event and don’t even whimper. Many of us have stood in line waiting to partake in our preferred movie, play or amusement park – knees aching, back aching, but we are determined to stand to witnessed whatever source it is that suits our desire. And we don’t mumble one bit.
So, how is it, that we can’t wait on Jesus when there is a need in our life…It doesn’t have to be a need per se, it could be anything or any situation, a desire, an answer – anything.
I’m asking God, to teach me how to expect. Now, mind you, at that instance that request flowed from my lips, I’m in waiting mode. Only because He has to bring me to a point, that I will have to anticipate something, someone, or an answer to prayer.
Jesus is showing me how to wait. Once I’ve made my request known to Him, I am to praise Him as if He has already answered. I am to read God’s word while I wait, sing praises to Him, while I wait. And if I don’t get the answer I’m hoping for, I know that God knows what is best for me. So, my brothers and sisters, in all things let’s not be anxious. Let’s make our request known and allow God to do the rest. Remember, while we are waiting, the enemy is sneaking around throwing darts of fear, uneasiness, and what ifs. Just put your praise music on, and give God praise – Whatever God’s Will is for us, no man, woman, boy or girl can stop it, not even the enemy. Be Blessed, and I will see you in a couple of weeks!
Dear Lord, continue to search my heart and reveal my moments of anxiousness. Forgive me, Jesus, when I exhibit moments of fear or anxiety after I’ve prayed. Give me your peace Dear Lord. Show me how to wait on You! In Jesus’ Holy Name, Amen!
Philippians 4: 6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ, Jesus.
